All, OK, I didn't want to do this, but (some of) you guys have forced my hand, even though I was content to sit here in my ignorant complacency. This question is for all you 'Techno Geek-Speak' people (henceforth known as 'TGS's") who know more than you should, and who I seriously envy. This question is because of the current 'dizzy' postings. I know 'zip' about electronics, but have been toying with the pertronixs upgrade idea, since so many swear by it. For starters, I am thinking about going/doing only a couple cars, so as to not invest a small fortune if I then decide I prefer the old 'tried and true'...
AC-Delco D204 7953944 AC-Delco D200 7953291 What are these two above dizzies for, and what/where Pertronics system fits them? I'm sorry to start the question with a minor test (i.e. what vehicles do they go to), but I have seen a million pounds of fertilizer on this list (upon rare<?> occassion ;) to 'sift' through, and really don't want the 'guesses'. I swear, no offense intended to anyone in particular, much less this awesome 'site'. Major reason I ask, is because I'd prefer to do these if the pertronics (kit?) is available, but could resort to doing several of different Triumphs (as some of you know), if I had to. I had not really paid attention, and had assumed it was a simple matter of fitting this upgrade to the dizzy without realizing that there were different kits (?) for different dizzies(?). The mind is a terrible thing to waste... any help for this old battered one? <<DOH!!>> Gary On Mon, 29 Apr 2002 09:47:59 -0400 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > Larry...yes they do make them. > I've put pertronix in nearly every spit I've ever owned. > The LU-141 and LU-142 fit the 25D and 45D dist bodies. > Regardless of EID or CID, both elec dist styles put on late > 1500 Triumphs can use Pertronix modules. > > One of the $$ cheaper places on the net...... > http://www.vintageperformance.com/retrorockets/lucas.htm > more specifically the Triumph listing > http://www.vintageperformance.com/retrorockets/triumph.htm > > Paul Tegler [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.teglerizer.com > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Vic Whitmore" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Larry Elswick" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 9:12 AM > Subject: Re: Replacement Distributor > > > Hi Larry, > > Pertronix may not make a kit for the 76 as it has/had an electronic > distributor. > When I got my 76, it had been converted to an older disty that does > not have the > electronics, just the plain old points.
