Well, on what turned out to be way more job than I expected - the gearbox is out of the car! Nothing was as easy as it was supposed to be (isn't that always how it goes!) Richard Gosling, I had your instructions right in front of me - you were right about the struggling to get it out and the busted thumb!
Whoever thought to put allen-head bolts on the clutch should be shot! I had to drill two of them out. Luckily I got the remained out of the flywheel and the threads are good. I MUST GET AND IMPACT WRENCH - that's for sure. The clutch was nearly gone - sure glad I ordered another. So far I've only cleaned of the gearbox and emptied the oil - first thing out looked like a chunk of a split ring. Parts come tomorrow - don't think we'll be driving the Spit to the club picnic on Tuesday but I think I know what I'll do on the forth. Thanks again for all of the great advice.
