Andre,

I don't know how tall you are, but I installed MX5 (European name for
Miata/Eunos) seats to my Spitfire, and found that the extra thickness in
both base and back meant that a car that fitted me just right before (at
maximum seat extension and a fair amount of recline) now feels a little too
small. The main problem is that I am sitting a little too high, and am
peering out of the top few inches of the windscreen rather than the centre.
I haven't tried it with the hard-top yet, but I am concerned that I really
will not fit in the car with it fitted.

So, if you are below 6" (183cm to a Canadian!), go for it, check out other
seats including Miata. If you are over 6", check out seat base thickness
very carefully, as you cannot afford anything thicker than the standard
seat. Also, the original seat is designed so that the centre actually sits
below the level of the runners, and there is a recess in the floor to
accomodate this; alternative seats will undoubtably have a base level with
or above the runners, again adding to the height.

I vaguely remember someone finding a seat made by a company called Cobra
that had a reasonably thin base that would work. It came in a variety of
sizes so you could make sure that it was narrow enough to fit. Can't
remember the cost, but it was reasonably cheap - certainly competitive with
the cost of re-covering original seats.
