All, This morning as I was leaving for work my '79 Spit died (furtunately less than 1/2 mile from home). Here are the symptoms:
The car started and drove fine for a short distance. Upon making as left turn, the engine stalled, came back, stalled, trid to come back and stalled again. When trying to re-start the engine, the first couple of times the engine would cough and die. Now it won't even try to start. Starter is cranking briskly, I simply get no fire. Is something like this likely to be fuel system or electrical system? Could it be that I've fouled my carb? I did run out of gas yesterday. Could this be related to the stumbling problem I posted not too long ago?
