Hi Pat,
Probably not going to be able to find out how good the carb is until you use it.
Mind you you could probably get a reasonably good idea by looking at general
condition.
ie, are the screw heads badly burred from over use (particular the ones on the
top of the jet assemblies,as they are brass)
Are the screws holding the throttle butterflies bured (if yes someone has been
fiddling perhaps where they shouldn't , as these are best left well alone)
Do the gaskets look good, when you poor fuel in it, does it leak?
with fuel in it, do you get good even squirts of fuel from the accelerator jets
when you open the throttles..
That sort of stuff.
BTW is it made in Italy or Spain?
AS to the black venturies, mine have alway been silver metal. They are easy to
remove IF they need cleaning.
