Hi all listers, About 3 weeks ago now I had described a hot restart problem I was having with the '3. Then I found out the coil "packed it in" and needed replacing. That done I can now start her easily, but it seems there is still an issue to track down.
I run her for about 25 minutes ( up to running temp ), and stop, if I start her right away, no problem. If I let her sit for about 10 minutes, typical time at a gas pump, then she will not start. The pump was significantly warm. During this condition I did an experiment and poured cool water over the pump and tried to start again, a couple of cranks and she fired up. Now, in talking with a good friend of mine and this list, he stated that he has never seen a vapour lock on a '3, given that, this becomes more puzzling? The questions are: - my friend is a very lucky man to never seen this and I want him to pick my next lottery ticket numbers? :-D - I have vapour lock at the pump? Someone else had this and has a solution? - I am barking up the wrong tree, and there must be something else I need to look for? Things I plan on doing on suggestion: - check the float levels to double check them Things I am considering: - install an electric fuel pump at the tank, but I want to keep the mechanical pump for the "correct look" - have a stiff drink and every time I stop at a gas station to fill up give the '3 a stiff drink as well over the pump :-P Advice as always....
