I just thought I'd pass on something that worked for me. Fitting a new set of choke cables, I couldn't snug them down to the dashboard tight enough to prevent the whole shebang from turning. The problem turns out to be a poor thread fit between the choke knob threaded barrel and the trim piece that turns onto it from the visible side of the dashboard. Ya gotta pinch the barrel on tight, and there was just too much thread slop with the old trim piece to get it tight enough.
The fix: jam the trim piece on over a small piece of .005" shim stock that you wrapped around the barrel. -- -- Douglas Frank DigitalWhoopsCompaqImeanHP Co. ZKO 110 Spit Brook Rd.
