Well - I just figured this out - but for those who don't know.... For those who don't like coolant splashing everywhere all over their paintwork:
Don't do as the Haynes says and remove the radiator filler cap! Remove the drain plug... and then remove the filler cap slowly. This way you can control the flow - if you undo it and just rest it on the top the filler cap hole the water flows nicley down the side of the engine.
