Dan, When I did one of ours, it was riveted in place. I had to drill out the rivet, then it came out the back of the "A" pillar. I put the new one in with a nut and bolt, kind of a pain to get the nut and bolt initially connected, but it eventually did.

I give up. I noticed that the driver's door of my 1980 Spit did will no longer "click" and stay in the wide-open position, which can be a real pain (in the shins) when trying to work while the door is opened. I received a new door strap from VB and have no idea how to remove the old one or to install the new one. Haynes is silent on this issue. There does not appear to be an easy way to remove the old strap from inside of the A pillar. Are there any ideas or experience that could be shared?
