Simon, I've got a 1500, but I very much doubt it's any different. Yes, you can remove the propshaft entirely from below the car. You will need to remove the centre section of the exhaust, then you simply undo the 4 nuts at each end holding it on and it should come right off. However, getting at the nuts may be awkward - I've not tried it myself. Still, I'm sure it's doable.
