Well, its been solved, all thanks to Barry S's suggestion of sticking the car in forth, holding down the clutch pedal, and turning the engine over - it instantly unstuck the clutch - fantastic.
Now, I've just got to track down the source of large amounts of white smoke.... its not blue luckily.... and it may just be the engine not being in tune.... still got to do all of that sort of thing... adjust valves etc... Anyway, for the first time in over 4 weeks the car has moved on its own... hurrah...
