I've just had a call from someone with a question about hardtops and I'm hoping one of you incredibly kind, helpful and knowledgeable people will be able to help.
Is that enough flattery? :o) Anyway, on to the question. Keith has recently acquired a MkII which came with a hardtop but without the proper side fitting pieces. He'd had a new MkII in 1964 with a hardtop but can't now remember exactly how it was attached at the sides. Because of the removable hoodsticks the side bracket must be different to that fitted to the later MkIII such as Baby Blue has. Although Sybil arrived with a hardtop perched on top these pieces are missing (unsurprisingly as the hardtop wasn't available till 1964 so she wasn't intended to have one) We're hoping that someone will have a Spitfire 4 or MkII with a hardtop correctly fitted and would be able to send a photo (off-list) showing it or even be able to let us know the correct part number to try to track some down. He's prepared to try to fabricate them if he can't trace any so photos and measurements would be very useful.
