If you let the car sit overnight before working under it, the dripping will have mostly ceased.
But it is a real good idea to clean the outside of the oil pan and the surrounding chassis areas before starting. It will make the job much less unpleasant. Use something strong like Gunk or lots of Simple green. Try to get to the top surface of the frame crossmember, right under the oil pan. If a local garage has a real steam cleaner (NOT the same as a power washer!), they can probably do it for you, and your driveway will be less greasy :-) Doug Braun '72 Spit At 01:36 PM 4/2/2003 +0100, you wrote: >Todd, > >One quick point - I've never yet (touch wood!) needed to do any work on the >bottom end of my engine, but I have it on good authority that it is possible >to do it without needing to remove the engine from the car. /// [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list /// Send admin requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] /// or try http://www.team.net/cgi-bin/majorcool /// Archives at http://www.team.net/archive /// Send list postings to [EMAIL PROTECTED] /// Edit your replies!
