If you are just doing a clutch, and are not fortunate enough to own an
engine hoist, pulling the whole engine/gearbox unit I would have thought
much more of a chore than pulling the 'box alone, which can be done with
basic tools, a jack, and a few muscles.

However, in Marv's case, I'd agree that it's best to mate it up before
installation.
