The continuing saga of bringing my old 67 Mk II back to life after an eighteen year "nap" - thanks to all for clues on how to trouble shoot the high and low tension ignition circuit. The coil is fine, but the condenser was shot - I put one in from my parts car and I now get blue sparks at the plugs!! However, the car still doesn't start, cough or anything (except smell of gas of course).
I think the "new" condenser is still bad, as the points spark if I manually separate them, and Haynes says that isn't supposed to happen - is that correct? Also, the coil is now very hot - really hot - don't want to touch it hot. This seems like an undesireable condition to me - any thoughts?
