Hi All, A shoddy repair to one of my seats broke the other day and investigation shows that the back plate (which is a solid curved sheet of metal on the MkII has rusted and doesn't reach the bottom part of the frame all the way across. I've not been able to find such good info on the seats as for other parts of the car, but it looks like I can unpick the staples around the bottom of the back, slide the trim and cushions up a little, then weld as necessary. The worrying thing is that these staples go into a thin curved piece of plywood which is looking pretty rotten. Does anyone have experience of this type of operation? The plywood might well not belong there, as the seat slides have been subjected to some odd modifications involving wood.
