Are you sure it's so terminal? Mine has some rather severe rot, and I
was seriously considering replacing the tub and frame as a result. I've
got holes in the frame I can stick my hands through, as well in the
sills and rear body brace the trailing arms attach to.

But after pricing a number of the repair pieces, as well as the ability
to fabricate many of them myself, I realized that the repair work would
be a bit tedious, but not that expensive.

So you may wish to investigate the repair bits and see what you think.
It probably isn't the job or cost you expected it to be.

Sad news, I'm afraid (members of the TTN will already know this) -
Daffy has
failed her MOT. Terminally. I had got all the mechanical stuff
sorted, but
the tester failed her on a lot of different rust areas. After much
soul-searching, I have come to the realistic decision that this
body-tub
contains so much rust that it is not practicable to fix it up properly.
 I
could patch up the immediate failure points and keep going for another
year
(as I have been doing since I bought Daffy almost exactly 5 years ago),
but
that in itself will be pretty pricey, and the problem will undoubtably
be
worse still next year.
