A replacement pump is just as likely to have excessive pressure as your
current replacement one does.  It's a well known problem with
replacement fuel pumps.  Though over pressurizing a DGV is a little
surprising.  They run at 7psi as I recall.

Instead, I would suggest an inline fuel pressure regulator between the
existing pump and the carburetor.
