To go along with your findings on the upper perch.  I didn't run
anything other than the upper perch, no rubber, not a washer...just the
spring directly contacted to the perches.  I don't know what that would
do as far as ride quality to run without the rubbers as ride quality
wasn't my primary objective.

After some adjustments, I got the springs lined up and got pics also.
