We're just replaced our floor pans on both the drivers and the passenger side of the GT6, so I feel compelled to reply to this. >From what you're describing, the old floor pan looks just about useless to me. You're dealing with a strip along one side plus holes in the middle. In this case, I'd never consider a patch-up job, instead have a new floor panel installed. You may not need a show car, but you need a safe car.
I would also check out the sills carefully, because rusty floors usually go hand in hand with rusty sills and you need to weld the floors to solid sheet metal in this area. For any body repair we use 20 gauge, satin covered, sheet metal which is easily available at specialty stores. Don't know the San Francisco Area. Hope this helps.
