AFAIK, all MkIV US-spec Spitfires for 1971 had the 3.89:1 diff, as did all US-spec 1500s from 1973 on. The 1972 US-spec Spitfire MkIV had a 4.11:1 diff regardless. Unlike some GT6 and TR models, the diff. ratio did not change with the addition of OD to a Spitfire at the factory. BTW, the serial number of the diff. will indicate the original ratio (which could have been changed, of course). --Andy Mace *Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet? *Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er, Triumph Herald engine with wings. -- Cut-price Airlines Sketch, Monty Python's Flying Circus (22) *** http://www.team.net/the-local *** Your messages not reaching the list?
