That's good to know! At least it saved you the multiple times removing and reinstalling the gearbox before you solved the problem.

When I first built Tiny Tim, I used an aluminum flywheel and a GT6 gearbox with the input shaft cut down for use with the Spit engine. When I put it all together, I would get a noise that sounded like the throw out bearing. So I took it apart and examined everything and found nothing wrong. I suspected the problem was being caused by flywheel being much thicker than the steel one and I fabricated some shims to increase the clutch spacing in hopes that would fix the problem. No Dice! This went on for at lease a dozen times pulling the gearbox out (something I was getting darned good at by then)! Finally, I noticed that there was some wear patterns beginning to show up at the hole in the flywheel where the input shaft end goes through. After looking it for an extended period, I determined that there was rubbing there by the input shaft and the problem was easily resolved by chamfering the hole so that there was proper clearance. I hope this helps. Joe Joe, Thanks a bunch. Fault Diagnosis on the 70 MK3 is complete and it is exactly as you said. I feel a whole lot better although the gearbox needs to be in the car and not on the bench. Still have to pull the Tilton and Fidanza Flywheel out and get the hole machined. This will only be the third time out and in so that's not real bad. Cheers, Darrell *** http://www.team.net/the-local *** Your messages not reaching the list?
