I'll suggest professional sandblasting, it worked for me. Well, I've only had it done once on the frame we used for Killer, but we got it back clean of all old paint, rust, grease, etc.
If you want to try paint stripper, use the Jasco Paint and Epoxy remover, it works better than the Jasco Paint remover. Should be readily available in most paint, hardware and home center stores.
