I paid almost($3700) about 5 years ago. All exterior, bonnet,(inside and out, door jams and boot (inside and out). I had already removed all of the chrome and trim parts. I had no rust, but I had a nasty wrinkle in the right wheel well that had to be repaired and an extra hole for an radio antenna to repair. I got an undercoat/top coat with clear coat paint. I see the imperfections (wavy metal in the door panels), but it looks good a 6 feet away or at 60 mph.
At today's prices, it's not unusual. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Mayer Sent: Thursday, October 06, 2005 7:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Update... Hello all, Still trying to get a quote from some paint shops for my spitfire. So far only one guy has given me a quote at $4000. A bit much i think. Granted the car needs some work before the paint work, but not too much. It needs to be sanded (which i will probably do before sending it), the posts where the new rocker panels were welded in are kind of wavy and need some filler, adn there are a couple spots of rust under where the headlights and turn markers were that didn't get around to. I am not looking for an award winning paint job here. Just outside, door jams, and underside of the bonnet. Is $3000 too low of an expectation? Here is a picture of it in its current state. Doesn't look like much...but she runs, she drives and with a little bondo and some paint she will look pretty too! :-) Any thoughts?
