I'd be very interested to see those pictures if you ever find them. But I
know
that your fabrication skill level is WAY above mine.
I had cut the tops off of the foams. I used an angle grinder so I could
make
long sweeps and basically keep the contours and a smooth surface. The
seat covering is a little loose now in the cushion area, but barely
noticeable.
Your way, however, probably would have been better. I was concerned
about following the shape of the underside of the cushion which was rather
complex. It never occurred to me that the cushion would automatically
compress to follow the contours. Duh.

I've been trying to dig out the photos of the seat pan mods I did to my own
Miata seats (in both my spit and GT6) as well as the pics of cuting theseat
foams (bottom not tops)
I can slide my seats all the way back until the back of the seat touches
the kneewall. I actually now have to slide the Miata seat foward one click
in the Spit6.
I basically moded the heck out of the rear corner of the seat pan. It
'just' clears the top of the curve of that inner tunnel area. S othe seat
now can go all the way back.
Di you cut the tops or the bottoms of the seat foams? I simply cut the
'hump' off the bottoms of the foams (against the pans) This way the tops
look and stay nice and taught lokking, but when you sit down you sink in as
the foam drops down to the pan.
