I'm in the process of disassembling my 1296 engine and have run into a snag. I can't get the camshaft all the way out because it runs into the gear below the distributor. That gear should just lift out but it doesn't. I've even tried to get the oil pump out from the other end but it is also stuck. My next step is to tap the pump body with a hammer to loosen it up and hopefully pry it out. Is there something I'm missing or a trick for this procedure? Thanks, James '66 Spitfire
