Thanks for all the advice on powder coating it really helped in which
direction I would go - now for something new -

Now that the headers are on the vehicle I am quite happy with the results
as far as performance and fuel mileage improvements. Apparently the old
cast iron manifold was quite restrictive. Ill even have to richen up the
main system a tad since its now running just a bit lean (I installed an
oxygen sensor to monitor before and after). Now, I knew that the headers
would be noisier, I just didnt know how much until after I installed
them! Ive had headers on vehicles before, but most vehicles have had
enough sound deadener so as not to be objectionable. However, this does
not appear to be the case this time. Its very noticeable (and no, they
arent leaking :-}) at anything over cruising and deceleration so my
question is have any of you tried header wrap? I know of the pitfalls of
using it, increased chance of rusting through etc, but does it cut down the
noise down to cast iron level or close? If so I would go that option and
live with the fact that these wont last quite as long
