Coincidentally I just posted a blog about my plans at
http://blog.myspace.com/sooperluke ... I've decided not to put any Triumphs
on the road this year (Though my '71 Spit only REALLY needs a u-joint to be
road-worthy, it's showing the abuse I've put it through and could use a
summer off... Plus the Wedge only really needs a rad... )
What I'm really looking forward to is tearing apart my '74 1500 and starting
right from scratch on my first proper restoration. The car is seriously
rotten so I'll be biulding a rotisserie to replace floors, sills, rockers,
trunk floor etc. I'm negotiating with my wife for a powder-coating set, I
figure anything small enough to go in an oven gets powder-coated and put on
a shelf until reinstallation.
May as well put the call out for an overdrive tranny too - That's one thing
I'd love to put in the 1500, since my commute is 40 miles of country roads
and bopping along at 4200 RPM gets tiresome!

So, spring is getting closer. What's everyone working on? I'm nearing the
easier stages of the transmission rebuild. I have 2 gaskets carefully and
lovingly put on with some sealant. Right now I just gotta get 2 switches
back from a friend who was going to repair them.
There was some confusion on which gasket went were on the J-Type ovdrdrive
brake ring. They look exactly the same, but have different materials. I
solved the problem by simply ordering another one from Vicky Brit.
As for the classic clutches of coventry clutch I bought, it came with a
bit of transparent goop. Where does this goop go? Inside the throwout
bearing? There were no instructions provided.
