Hello listers,
I decided to tackle some of the body work on the spitfire this weekend. I
have a couple small holes in the lip of the wheel wells on the front and
rear fenders. So I started sanding down the area around the front driver's
fender and as I was sanding found that there was more body filler under the
paint. After sanding down almost the whole front quarter panel, i found
that the corner is in pretty bad shape. Some of the filler was put on over
rust as well. So I am trying to get down to the bottom of all of the filler
to check for cracks and to make sure that there is no more rust anywhere
that needs to be taken care of before continuing.
So here is my question. If i continue to find that the body is not as
straight as I originally thought, is it worth perhaps getting a fiberglass
bonnet rather than going through the trouble of re-doing all of the body
work that the DPO already did? How much $ does a fiberglass bonnet go for
these days?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, comments, and suggestions.
