Mike, According to the BMIHT, The first car manufactured in 1964 was FC22683 and Production of the Mk1 ended in December of 63 with the last one having Commission number FC44656.
So your car was manufactured very early in 1964. Where did you come up with the 44573 number? According to the BMIHT there were on cars with Commission numbers between FC44657 and FC49999.
