Ah, how times change. Nowadays a car's defroster automatically turns on the ubiquitous AC to dry the air. In the old days you had to turn on the heater to blow heated air across the windshield. (Cold air, hot air, how does it know what to do?) The old VWs would blow hot air up from the engine cooling shrouds in the back. During the first few minutes it would dry the inside of the ducts, and all that water would immediately condense on the windshield. You have a round-tail Spitfire?
