Hello all: Just a reminder, this is still available if anyone needs a spare. I don't plan to dump it, but would like to get it out of the garage.
Thanks Mark Sinclair San Francisco, CA ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------- Complete engine and (1147) and 3-rail box from my Mk2, basically complete, minus alternate upgrade, speedo drive, electronic ignition, and speedo drive - can include some standard spares. The clutch gave up which triggered replacement with my 1300. It most likely needs a rebuild - I think it sat for a long time before I brought it and the rings never seemed to reseat properly - who knows. It started and ran around town fine, but when hot, and under load, the blowby caused a variety of oil leaks onto the exhaust, which then smoked, etc., etc., although the tailpipe didn't. Top end sounded pretty good to me. Starter, water pump, etc, also seemed OK. This would really suit someone looking to rebuild an engine while theirs is still in the car. It may just need a clean-up and new rings etc. I didn't run a comp test, but it steadily improved after I got it - did the Marvel Mystery Oil thing etc., added breathers, etc., - it just never quite ran properly under load. Have a lot of other stuff to sweeten the deal, gas tank, (MK1 doors), box or two of misc bits, MK2 soft-top convertible frame, complete set of spare front suspension including brake calipers and engine towers, radiator, maybe also a complete rear suspension set if I get that swapped out beforehand. It's free for the taking, I don't want to deal with shipping.
