All tires seem to be slightly different. I have no probs with rubbing with my 215/40-17s. You might start to run into a prob with the 45 series tires although I have nothignt o base this on except for a guess...

Depends on what kind of rims. I have 17" TSW Spirits and i bent all 4 of them with 205/40 nitto 450s on them. Hit a bump on the way to Ocean City. I had only had the rims for 3 weeks. Man I was pissed. I have 215/40 Yokohama Paradas on there now and have had no problem. I have heard complaints from people about TSWs bending very easily though. I know people that have gotten rid of them for that specific reason. the 45 series will offer more rim protection though.

I was thinking about 205/45 17's  would my sidewalls be too thin and risk damage to the rim?  otherwise i'd get 205/50 16's.  both would have the same diameter as the OEM 195/60 15's so speedo and odo arent an issue

Hey ill be getting 17s soon and i lower the car about 2 inches with the Intrax springs.
I was wondering will there be a problem with 215 compared to 205 width tires on the 17s? Or how about 45 profile instead of the 40 profile? id like wider because its better, and i also want more cushion/rim protection with the higher profile.

which is my best bet w/o running into any problems? Im assuming the rims will be 4x7 17" can i go both width and profile upgrade?, one or the other?, or neither, when its lowered. I currently have 16" rims (which are for sale)
