The usual temp of a thermostat for most vehicles is 180 - 190 degrees. I believe in my 97 SL it is a 190.
Besides those that said that removing the thermostat may not allow the car to warm up, it is also possible for a car to overheat as well. The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant and if the flow goes through the radiator too quickly, it will not dissipate heat as well. Scott W.
