Depends on where you ordered them and for what car.

I've done gauge faces for my 95 and my 01. I got both sets from SPS.

I got white gauges for the 95. These are a major pain to install. You need
to completely disassemble the dash, drop the steering column, then pull the
instrument cluster, pull off the needles, and apply the new faces. Then put
it most of the way back together and take a test drive. If the needles don't
match up (and they won't) start at the beginning and do it all over a again.
All of this is a major pain in the ass and the results were not all that
great. It took me most of a day to get the needles right. It didn't help
that I was in the middle of nowhere NH (Hi Bill!) and it was snowing. Also
the faces I have don't match 100%. The 'upshift' light now says 'low fuel'.

As for the 01 things where a lot easier. I got the etched aluminum looking
faces from SPS. Much easier to install on this car. Maybe because I knew
what I was doing by this time but the dash only had to come halfway apart
and the steering column did not need to be dropped. Also I got the needle
placement right after only two tries. These gauges look awesome.

As for using photocopied gauge faces? I don't know. Depending on your car
it could be a lot of work to go through and you run the risk of really
screwing something up. Matt, didn't you fry your instrument cluster? If
this is something you decide to do I would print out the gauges at home
first and then visually sit in your car and match up all the lights. Make
sure everything is perfect and the way you want it. I would also get the
printout on rather thick paper. Maybe something in the neighborhood of 50lb
stock with a heavy cotton content.

Oh, yeah don't forget to pint the needles, white needles on a white
background don't work to well.
