Oh yeah, the car survived, kept all the wheels on which is good. This was the event that two years ago one of my wheels fell off the car due to a faulty hub. One of the reasons I do this event every year is to help excise those demons out of my mind from that incident.
National events are entirely different animal than your local autocross. The competition goes way up (as does the fun) along with the nerves, etc... It becomes a much much more mental game. Considering my previous performances at various Tours and Pros my goal for this one was to not DFL (Did Finish Last). I finished 14 out of 16 and I almost beat Vince Bly, a very good national level STS driver. If I hadn't red lighted on one run I would have had him. So all in all I consider the event a success. If anyone is interested here are some photos, no Saturns in there though. Kind hard to take a picture of your own car when your driving it. 8-) http://homepage.mac.com/cris_thomas/Petersburg/ Now it is on to the National Tour in Rome. There are currently 14 people registered in STS according to the SCCA website. I'll be ecstatic if I can finish somewhere between 6th and 8th. Realistically I'm gonna shoot for another not DFL. Driving under pressure is not my strong suit which is why I seek out high pressure events. - Cris Oh, PS if anyone with a 1st gen SC2 - If your headlights pop open in the middle of the day for no reason and won't close be sure to check the 10A fuse in the underhood fuse box marked 'park'. That fuse also takes out your blinkers, dash lights and cigar lighter. From the middle of Jersey to VA I had the trailer and no blinkers.
