The fuzzy image is not a catch all, but will signicantly reduce the amount of spam to the list.

Well, there are a few possible solutions. One would be an account/pwd system. Which might not be as painful as you'd think, since a cookie could store it in your browser, so you'd only need to enter it every so often. Another would be one of those challenges where you need to read the fuzzy image of some text, and type it it. I'll have to think about it a little bit. Other suggestions are certainly welcome!
