FWIW, I played a recording of V1 to a co worker of mine once, who is
a native of Romania. He quickly identified the tune, and said it was
very well known, it was often played at weddings, etc.
He also said something else interesting, that the man reading the
numbers sounded like a Romanian who had been living in the UK for a
number of years, based on the accent.

Dear Number station enthusiasts,
I am not sure how well you know world music, the skylark uses a
Romanian tune by Ionesco which has been getting back at Hitler ever
since it was in operation. The tune Skylark is definitely Jewish; see
"Klezmer music." The continual playing of the music and then a reading
of numbers was a real insult against the Germans and their number
stations as the Nazi regime who as history tells us gassed Jews. It
was like saying "us Jews are free here, and we're spying on you!"
