Good question. My dad was evidently in the OSS. During WWII he was honorably
discharged from the US Army (in the middle of the war) and then enlisted
in SOMETHING where he was with the RAF. He never said what he was trained to
do other than "paratrooper" and only a couple times made reference to
"cyanide pills" he had with him on a mission behind the German lines. He
never spoke any German.

It's our great family mystery, as he evidently considered the ordeal too
painful to even think or talk about for the rest of his life. All the
records that might have existed were destroyed in the St. Louis government
records office fire in 1973.
