Hi Kurt,

The Moscow and Leningrad military districts merged on 1 September into the
the Western Military District (West Strategic Command). The old callsign
UVB-76 changed then to MDZhB. The station has been quite active since that
day. They send (almost) daily strategic messages, normally using their
MDZhB callsign followed by words and figures. What you see on other
Russian mil frequencies is that often collective callsigns are being used
for specific messages. The new callsigns could be collective callsigns. It
is however too early to conclude that because they have been used only
once so far. We will have to wait and see if the station will use them
again.

Cheers,

Ary
