To which Warren replies... I just received five rolls of Astia from Calumet in Chicago...$9.05 per roll plus s/h. The catalog price for Provia is $8.89, and the catalog is more than a year old. Either you're getting a really good deal on your Provia, or someone is ripping you off for your Astia. >Especially after looking at all of my RD Sensia from >Wyoming and not being able to tell the difference from Provia. And the >Sensia is even two bucks cheaper still. I'm sure that in bright sunlight most similar films will look alike. I wonder how they perform in high contrast situations. I shot a roll of Provia inside the Air Force Museum last summer. The lighting was tungsten, flourescent, and mercury with incredible variations. I used no filter and the F3-indicated exposure just out of despiration for knowing what to do. The Provia shots were unbelievable--perfectly acceptable for slide shows and probably good enough for publication. It is my understanding that this is the type of situation in which the "professional" films show their stuff. I'll provide a report on my results with Astia, but it won't be for several months. I'm a casual shooter as you all know. :-) Later, Warren //--------------------------------------------------------------------- // Warren Sunkel [EMAIL PROTECTED] // Meteorologist // Photographer 6732 Caenen Lake Rd. // Railroad Enthusiast Shawnee Mission, KS 66216 // Theatre Organ Devotee (913) 268-1428 ext. 3 // Aviation Aficionado // // Visit Warren's Home Page ... http://www.sound.net/~wsunkel //--------------------------------------------------------------------- --> SPORRS: Serious Photographers of Railroad Related Subjects X-Mozilla-Status: 0011 Content-Length: 4302
