Hi folks:
Much to my chagrin, Charlie has pointed out that I am not a very good
salesman for my employer. The truth is, I have had a weather radio
since 1958. I first listened in Chicago on my 9-tube Halicrafters. I
was working in St. Louis in 1968, when we put the station on-line
there, and I was working in Topeka, KS in 1978, when that station
became operational. I have always had several receivers in the house
and listen to the broadcasts on my scanner when traveling.
NOAA Weather Radio operates on seven channels between 162.400 and
162.550. Many new scanners have "WX" buttons to scan these seven
freqs.
For more complete information, I refer you to:
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/nwrbro.htm
Also, many of the local offices have web pages describing their weather
radio programs.
Thanks to Charlie for suggesting this valuable source of weather info.
Later,
Warren
