Just thought I had to ask this question.

Not including the former DRGW Soldier Summit Line, and SP's line across the
Great Salt Lake, there seems to be a lack of interest in shooting the
railroad(s) (UP) in Utah. Except for one or two people, namely Doug
Harrop, I have seen very little work from anyone in the areas east of
Ogden, or the desert west of Salt Lake. The Weber River Canyon, Echo
Canyon, and some of the valleys in between are some of the most stiking
vistas anywhere. And the desert area west of Salt Lake has some killer
looking shots as well. (I have to admit, I have seen a few more from the
desert).

Not only is the scenery fabulous east of Ogden, the chasing of trains is
realtively easy as well. They do get up and scoot through some of the
valley areas, and when chasing eastbounds, the limited access of I-84 and
I-80 creates a problem, but the realtively slow train speeds of the area
makes the place darn near perfect. If there are any drawbacks, it seems to
be the fact that the pole lines always seem to be on the wrong side, and
they seem to run the trains in the wrong direction (westbounds in the
morning). I have also heard that train frequency is not very good during
daylight hours, but I saw 8 in 3 1/2 hours up there. That's not too bad.

I don't want to create a rush out there, but it sure seems like a lot of
people have been missing a lot of cool shots. In between business out
there, I had a few moments to play, and the thought of shooting out there
and in Western Wyoming up to about Green River , especially near the
Altamont and Aspen Tunnels the next time I go, has me excited.

On another subject, I haven't seen too many shots, if any, from the SE part
of Idaho towards Kemmerer, WY. I've never been there, but I know the
highway access is supposed to be pretty good....
