It looks like most a of us are in agreement that Ted Benson's Echoes Down
The Canyon is a great book in all regards.  It's one of the favorite books
in my collection.  Right up there with Jim Boyd's Monday Morning Rails IC
book and a few others.  Another favorite of mine and a great pictorial is
Don Ball Jr.'s American Railroads The Second generation.  And even though
it is more of a historical account, I still find Ehernberger and Gschwind's
Sherman Hill fascinating.  In the spare few minutes I can find these days
to find time to read something non work or class related.
