Paraphrasing: If you don't like the article, write your own article! Show us how it should be done. That would be more constructive than criticizing the work of others. I do concede that an article about railfanning Stampede Pass, or any other location, should have a bit more useful info than Bachman's article did, although not necessary a lot more. While topo maps a la Railpace articles are useful, they aren't essential. Every competent railfan (or any other traveling human) should be able to access good maps of any region in the U.S. Basically, the debate about what constitutes a good railfan article continues, having been started by Mr. Hemphill in his inflammatory letter to RailNews a while back.
