Many larger photo stores have courrier service to Kodak labs, which
should get you 3-5 day turn-around on Kodak processing.

On a just-completed trip, I decided to try something different. I purchased
Kodak PK36 mailers and sent my first batch of films by mail early in the
trip. I mailed four films to the Kodak lab in NJ from the post office at
Clearmon, WY, a tiny town just east of Sheridan.

The films went into the mail mid-afternoon a week ago today. The first film
from that batch was in my post office box this morning when I checked my
mail. I assume the remaining films will show up tomorrow.

One week service is really not bad, considering that the film probably
first went into Sheridan, then from there to some larger city with scheduled
air service on a major airline.

Why from Clearmont, WY? The post office was right on the road I was
on following BNSF tracks and the clerk on duty assured me that the
outgoing mail would be picked up at 4:30 that afternoon. In any larger
city, I would have spent time hunting for a post office. I also did not
want the mailers sitting in a hot mailbox somewhere.

I had already filled out the mailers prior to the trip and had already
applied proper postage -- so I could have dropped off the mailers
anywhere. The mailers plus postage were still about 20 per cent
cheaper than Kodak processing offered through the local photo store,
which also sends its processing to the same lab in NJ.
