I always carry an old automatic camera with me. Not autofocus, but at least something with an auto exposure setting. On a semi-auto rangefinder camera, leave the lens focused at infinity and shutter speed at 1/250th and you can grab 99% of the shots you'll encounter in the field with no problem.
Rangefinder cameras such as a Canon QL17 or a Yashica 35GSN have excellent lenses -- much sharper than anything you'll find on most modern p&s cameras. These cameras original sold for $100 - $200, but are now real bargains. If you're interested in older cameras, here's a short list of some R/F's and P&S's for sale from a friend of mine. Contact him directly. Good luck. Bernie Ente [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------- Cameras for sale from C. W.
