The United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey will
 sponsor EastRAIL '98 on Saturday, February 28 at the Bergen County
 Technical School, 200 Hackensack Avenue South, Hackensack, New Jersey,
 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The new EastRAIL site, adjacent to Route 4,
 has ample free parking. Several restaurants are located within walking
 distance. NJ Transit offers convenient bus service from the George
 Washington Bus Terminal to a location near EastRAIL.
          EastRAIL is a professional quality multi-media sound/slide
 production. Scheduled presentation are as follows:
  Steve Barry- contempory Northeast railroads.
  Bob Hart Jr. - farewell to the Lackawanna R.R. MUs.
  Frank Etzel - tour of NYS&W's Sparta Mountain.
  Terry LaFrance - railroads of the Southeast.
  Greg McDonnell - Canadian National snow plow action.
  Conrad Milster - bygone railroad marine operations in the N.Y. harbor.
  Scott Snell - the East Broad Top.
  Richard Wallace - railroad of Texas and Oklahoma.
          Videographer Marc Balkin will present a special video on
 historic commuter railroad operations in the New York Metropolitan 
area.
          Noted author and editor James Boyd will be the master of
 ceremonies for the day. He will be available to sign copies of his
 recently released books that include "Illinois Central- Monday Morning
 Rails" and "Fairbanks-Morse Locomotives in Color."
          EastRAIL's official book seller Quadrant Press will have a
 selection of railroad books and videos for sale, Several of the United
 Railroad Historical Society's member groups will have sales tables.
          EastRAIL attendees will have the opportunity to view Bergen
 Tech's twenty stationary steam engines. To satisfy the hearts of steam
 fans there will be a stem whistle blow, courtesy of Frank Vopasek and
 the Bergen County Technical School.
          Tickets for EastRAIL are modestly priced at $10 dollars in
 advance or $12 at the door. A special group ticket rate of $8 is
 available for the purchase of 20 or more tickets. Ticket demand has  
been strong and those that plan to attend are urged to purchase tickets

          All proceeds from EastRAIL will benefir the restoration of he
 New Jersey Transportation Museum collection, which includes 85 
historically significant railroad locomotives, and freight and  
passenger cars.
