Happy Holidays all: This topic may have been discussed on SPORRS before. If so, I missed it. Feel free to hit delete.
I recieved some Kodachrome slides back from A&I last month. Again, they would not project properly at all. I could only have the center of the slide in focus or the outer edges. No in between. I also have this problem with Fuji processed slides, although not nearly as bad as with A&I's. I have been a fan of A&I's processing for a long time. I think they are the lesser of two evils. Although they won't always project properly, they almost never come back with chemical stains or scratches unlike some of my Kodak processed material. I often view my slides with a loupe anyway. A processing brocure I have from The New Lab in San Francisco suggests that you project their slides, mounted in "professional mounts" with a flat field projection lens for optimum results. I still don't know what the difference is between a professional and amateur slide mount? Anyway...I decided to gamble and purchase a flat field projection lens from B&H for $47.00. I tried it yesterday and I am impressed. All of my slides now project with edge to edge sharpness. It even seems to do fine with Kodak processed slides. If any of you are having projection problems like this, you might want to try this option.
