Had passengers to pick up at Midway Airport Saturday am, so got to Chicago a couple of hours early to take advantage of a sunny weekend day.
Corwith was as full as I've ever seen it--at least 50 units on hand. Naturally, this made it impossible to shoot anything. Several of the new SD75M's were present, with the highest numbered one seen 8292. These feature the large numbers on the cab side and the smaller BNSF on the side. They're Warbonnets. No renumbered units were seen. BNSF GP35 2551 in fresh orange and green (Phase 1) was switching the piggyback yard. Clearing Yard on the Belt Railway of Chicago had a good variety of power, as always. BRC 537 and 538 (x-NS SW1500's) were present in dripping fresh paint. MRL 332 (x-MPI SD45-2) and IMRL 201 (X-CR SD40) were seen, as well as WSOR GP9m 4492. The M-K demonstrator is working the yard and has been for a couple of weeks. BRC C424 601 was puking a lot of oil out the stack and was headed for the shop. The usual assortment of CP, SOO, GTW, WC and UP power was also present. Clyde Yard at Cicero was also pretty busy. New UP SD90MAC's 8203,8204 and 8507 (yes, I looked at this # twice) were buried on the south side of the enginehouse. These are genuine SD90's with the angled roof over the engine compartment. BNSF SW9 3523 was freshly renumbered. Fresh green patches over the old BN stuff, large numbers on the lower part of the cab, and BNSF lettering on the battery boxes. All in all not a bad looking renumber job. No other renumbers or repaints were seen. -> SPORRS: Serious Photographers of Railroad Related Subjects -> Web Site: http://www.anet-stl.com/acphotog/sporrs
